Frozen shoulder, medically known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness, pain, and limited range of motion in the shoulder joint. It typically develops gradually and can be caused by injury, overuse, or underlying conditions such as diabetes or thyroid disorders. The exact cause is often unknown. Treatment may include physical therapy, pain management, and in some cases, corticosteroid injections or surgery to release the tightened joint capsule. With proper management, most cases of frozen shoulder improve over time, although recovery can be slow and may take several months to years.
